Head Coach Ray Miller EMAIL:
RMILLERTIME49@cs.com The time was Jan.1949, I was almost born at Snowbasin. My parents M.Earl and Gladys Miller , were very involved in the operation of the resort. In the early 50's my family operated the day lodge, food service and the ski school. My mother and father owned the ski school through about 1985. I started skiing when I was 3 1/2 years old on the hill in front of the lodge. I went on to wear out many gloves on the rope tow (powered by some type of old truck or car frame without tires on the rims) on School Hill . I advanced to the Wild Cat single chair when I was five. I was to young to ride by myself so I would find one of my adult friends (Author Perkins, Harold Luddington,Bob Kiesel) close to the front of the line to take me back to the top. I have two older brothers, Alan and Dale. All raced for Snowbasin in our younger years, to the level of national champions, and I was named to the U.S. Ski Team in 1966,67,68. I am still involved in ski racing at Snowbasin as the Head Coach for the Snowbasin Ski Education Foundation (SSEF). I met my wife Cathy skiing at Snowbasin in 1963, and we were married in 1969 (not at Snowbasin). We have two children, Wendy and Matt. They both started skiing at Snowbasin at the age of two. Wendy and Matt also raced and Wendy is currently a coach for Snowbasin Ski Team (SSEF). Snowbasin is a big part of my life, having explored all the ridges and valleys for the past 50 years. I have seen and skied all the changes, with each day, like being born again. There are many more changes ahead, with the success of the 2002 Olympic Games. I hope to have many more days, exploring or retracing my travel around the mountain. Racing Background
