SUMMARY OF YOUR SKIING/COACHING EXPERIENCE:
The 2004/5 season will be my ninth year coaching with 22 years of active
involvement in Ski racing. I started skiing when I was eight and racing
when I was ten. My junior ski racing took me throughout Montana, Wyoming,
South Dakota and Colorado. I enrolled at the College of Idaho (now Albertson
College) where I competed on the varsity ski team throughout Oregon,
Idaho and Washington. We won two national titles during my four years
of collegiate competition. I began coaching in Boise, Idaho at Bogus
Basin where I coached mighty mites for two years and was the J1 coach
for one year. I left Bogus to start my federal service career at Hill
AFB in 1988 when I also began coaching at Snowbasin. I coached with
Snowbasin for two years until moving away from the Wasatch front.
I returned to Hill AFB in 2001 and also returned to coaching with the
Alpine team.
WHY
DO YOU COACH?
I
love the sport of ski racing. I've experienced tremendous life success
through ski racing. I coach ski racing to share my love of the sport
with young ski racers and enable them to experience similar success
in their own lives. I also coach to enjoy the camaraderie of ski
racing with the coaching staff and the athletes on the team.
WHAT
ARE YOUR GOALS AS A COACH?
Develop self esteem within children by helping them achieve successful
skiing ability. Help develop respect for themselves, other athletes,
coaches and the mountain. Teach kids how to safely be at a ski area.
